License Renewal

Information regarding Tier 3 and Tier 4 Teaching Licenses for Osseo Area Schools’ Staff Members and Community Members can be found on this page, as well as information for administration license renewal. (Tier 1 and Tier 2 license renewals are processed through Human Resources in collaboration with site principals and/or department administrators.)

I welcome phone calls or emails if you are not finding what you need on this page.  This page is designed to have all needed materials easily accessible for license renewal. The following is required for all teaching license renewals: 

For License Renewal:

  • 125 CEU's are required for Tier 4 licenses and 75 CEU's for Tier 3 licenses.

    • If you qualify to move from a Tier 3 to a Tier 4 license, Scott Taylor will send you the information; do NOT pay online for license renewal.
  • Credits must include at least one hour (1 ceu) in the following areas:
    • Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies
    • Accommodating, Modifying, and Adapting Curricula, Materials, and Strategies 
    • Further Reading Preparation
    • Key warning signs mental illness
    • Suicide Prevention Training
    • English Language Learner Instruction 
    • Cultural Competency Training 
    • American Indian History and Culture
  • The above areas must be met, with remaining credits from a variety of fields.  For example, a science teacher will probably have credits in science instruction or classes, an art or music teacher will have credits in curricular specific areas, and elementary classroom teachers will have credits in areas that enhance their classroom practice, and so on.
  • College Coursework:
    • 1 quarter hour = 16 ceu's
    • 1 semester hour = 24 ceu's

Community Member License Renewal Information

To Renew Your License:

  1. After completing all requirements, submit the documentation to Scott Taylor via scanned documents, delivering directly to Park Brook Elementary, or visiting any ISD 279 Site and have the documents inner-school mailed to Scott Taylor at Park Brook Elementary.

  2. Licenses expiring in June of 2026 cannot be renewed until January 1, 2026; however you are welcome to send information prior to that date.
  3. Call or email with any questions.
  4. You will receive an email or phone call once your credits have been approved and your license updated.  You will also receive a phone call or email if you are missing documents.
  5. After receiving a phone call or email that all requirements have been met, click on the link below to pay the renewal fee.

District Employee License Renewal Information

Information will NOT be entered into PELSB until all requirements are met. 

  • Ensure you have met all requirements listed above and that those requirements are documented in Professional Learning
    • A few licenses, such as speech teachers, have slightly different requirements. 
    • CEU's can only be used if received in the past three years (Tier 3) or five years (Tier 4) AND after last license renewal date.
  • Scott Taylor will send an email by Nov. 30 if you are on his list for license renewal in June of 2026. Please do not email to inquire if you are on the list until after Nov. 30.
    • Licenses expiring in June of 2026 cannot be renewed until Jan. 1, 2026. 
    • As soon as your license is updated on PELSB you will recieve an email with a link to this page which has a link to pay renewal fee. 
    • Licenses will be renewed from the master list beginning with those who have all credits for renewal before Oct. 1, 2025. 
    • Professional Learning will be monitored for license renewal requirements. 
    • You are welcome to email Scott Taylor once requirements are met.

The above links to online classes are options for license renewal.  The courses/links on this site are not endorsed nor supported by ISD 279, Park Brook Elementary or Scott Taylor, nor have these sources been reviewed by the aforementioned individuals and organizations.   This is simply provided as a resource and other online sources can be added to this webpage; I am not researching for additional sites, simply passing on  information on sites that have been given to me.  I have not taken any classes from these sites so I cannot speak to the value of the classes.  This is not a recommendation, but rather a source available to those renewing licenses.

Administration License Renewal

Renewing a Five-Year License

  • 125 Pre-Approved CEU's by the Minnesota Board of School Administrators are needed to renew an administration license.
  • Credits must be on a certificate from the Minnesota Board of School Administrators.
  • The 125 pre-approved CEU's are NOT the same as the CEU's to renew a teaching license.
  • The 125 pre-approved CEU's must be dated after your last license renewal date.
  • Please send me the paper copies at Park Brook Elementary or scan the paper copies and send to taylors@district279.org.
  • After approved, use the link to pay the license renewal fee.


Renewing a Two-Year License

  • To renew a two-year license IF you have not had one-year in a position requiring your administration license, use the link above to pay the license renewal fee.  No CEU's are needed to renew the administration license.
