Adult Basic Education holds appreciation event for volunteers

On April 23, Adult Basic Education (ABE) recognized the dedication and impact of its volunteers during a special appreciation luncheon. The event celebrated the 17 volunteers who have contributed a combined 783 hours so far this school year to support students in reaching their academic goals.

ABE volunteers play a vital role in student success and confidence by offering both academic support and encouragement. Some volunteers work one-on-one with students building skills in GED-level math, while others assist students with computer training. In classrooms, volunteers collaborate with teachers to support students in small-group discussions, activities and help lead instruction for students.

The luncheon provided an opportunity for staff to express gratitude and celebrate the difference volunteers make in ABE each day.

"I feel very fortunate to work alongside our amazing volunteers. They all put in a great amount of dedication and effort into supporting ABE. Our volunteers' efforts are important to us, and we appreciate all that they do to help ABE," said Tshiab Lee, ABE volunteer coordinator.
