Building a Better Future project planners prepare for busy summer season

2026 promises to be a big year for the district’s Building a Better Future projects. Several projects are ongoing at this time, including the new Aspen Ridge Elementary School and Maple Grove and Osseo senior high schools. Two additional projects are slated to begin construction this spring: the former Crest View Elementary and Park Center Senior High.
At North View Middle School, the school’s renovations are complete besides the creation of a multipurpose turf facility that includes a batting cage, gaga pit, knockerball, climbing wall and a large, interactive screen that students and staff can utilize for games and physical education-related activities. The turf facility should be ready for use in early April.
Morstad said the school year construction projects are running on schedule and currently include drywall, painting and exterior masonry work at Aspen Ridge, locker rooms and fitness center on target for completion by early March at MGSH, along with work on the cafeteria expansion and third story classroom additions that will see completion this fall, and work on a new automotive shop and new flooring at OSH.
In addition to the school year construction, several projects are planned to begin once the 2025-26 school year ends. Sites for summer 2026 improvements include Edinbrook and Fernbrook elementary schools and Maple Grove and Osseo middle schools.
Woven throughout each of these projects, Morstad said, is a focus on school safety and security.
“With every project included in Building a Better Future, we are looking at making enhancements to our security in every building,” said John Morstad, executive director of finance and operations for Osseo Area Schools. “It might not always be very visible, but changes are being made to improve security, update it and provide more robust safety solutions for students and staff.”
