Community gathers for playdate at Arbor View Early Childhood Center

More than 150 adults and children, staff and volunteers gathered on Sept. 24 at Arbor View Early Childhood Center for a playground playdate.

Families enjoyed the warm evening weather, played on the playground, explored the updated outdoor Nature Play Area and toured the newly remodeled building led by Osseo Area Schools’ Community Education Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) staff. The event gave families a chance to see the spaces where children learn and grow.

Supt. Dr. Kim Hiel and Community Education leaders attended, greeting families and staff and touring the updated building and grounds.

Families met volunteers from the Early Childhood Parent Teacher Organization (ECPTO), which sponsored the free event. The ECPTO supports events that bring families together in the program.

"It was wonderful to see families mingling while enjoying the updated nature play area and playground! I feel lucky to be a part of this community, and planning ECPTO events like this where families can enjoy time with their children while socializing with other families," said Merrill Norman, Chair of the ECPTO.

The large turn out and positive energy reminded staff of the strong sense of community in Osseo Area Schools.

Krystle Sherlock, ECFE administrative professional shared, “It was such a joy to welcome families and share all the improvements we’ve made. Everyone had a great time playing, chatting and enjoying the evening together,” Sherlock continued.

Osseo Area Schools’ Community Education ECFE program will host a free ‘New to ECFE’ sampler class on Friday, Oct. 3, from 10-11 a.m. at Arbor View Early Childhood Center. The class is for families with children from birth to age 5 who want to experience ECFE before signing up. Families can register online or call 763-391-8777.

Stay tuned! More events for families to connect will be planned throughout the year.
